A Journey of Faith and Perseverance

Writer's picture: Dedrick MooneDedrick Moone

I remember the day vividly when I told my mom and grandma (Rest in Heaven) that I was going to fight for custody of my daughter, Haelee after my first divorce. They both said I’d lose. They couldn't fathom a father beating a mother in court. But not only that, they saw me as irresponsible and couldn’t recognize the growth God was working in me. That’s when I learned a powerful lesson from Joseph, not every dream God puts on your heart is meant to be shared with others.

Well, guess what? I won!!! I was granted custody of Haelee when she was just two years old. The journey wasn't easy in that it was replete with peaks, valleys, headaches, and heartbreaks, but I did it. I raised her alone for 12 years with minimal help until I remarried. I even helped her found her own company, The Rules of a Big Boss LLC.

Today, my wife and I are taking her to High Point University for Presidential Scholars Weekend. We’re praying that her partial scholarship turns into a full ride. I don’t know why I felt led to share this, but maybe someone out there needs to hear it. If you’re in a tough season, hold on, God’s not done with your story yet. This is especially applicable to those of you that are single parents. Keep the faith and continue moving forward.

Thank you for reading, and I hope this message brings you some encouragement.
