My daughter Haelee’s latest book, Everyday Heroes: Real People, True Heroes, is officially on tour! Craze Tea and Wellness is an ideal spot to recharge and soak in positive vibes thus making it the perfect spot for the launch of our tour. Everyday Heroes itself is a tribute to the unsung heroes whose acts of kindness make our world shine a little brighter. With that in mind, we invited everyone to put on their favorite superhero costumes and join us to celebrate the official kick-off on August 17, 2024.
Speaking of costumes, Haelee and I considered a myriad of options, including doctors, construction workers, and teachers, before we landed on firefighters. We thought firefighters were the most on-brand with the story and a notch above the rest in the cool department.
We dove into the adventure of Everyday Heroes with a fun read-along with attendees. We also colored and drew pictures of our favorite superheroes and heroes in general. We invited the audience to share their fears and tell us who their heroes were and why. It was heartwarming to see children and adults alike pay tribute to their parents, grandparents, and so many others. Haelee and I were so proud of the children for their bravery in speaking in front of the audience.
We also discussed our own fears, including failure, rejection, snakes, bugs, and more, and talked about ways to overcome them. Our conversation about how to overcome the fear of creepy crawlers wasn’t very effective but we tried!
Moving along, we enjoyed a delicious meal and entirely too much candy, courtesy of Craze Tea and Wellness. We’d like to personally thank Tiffany Matier (owner) and Charnelle (operations manager) for their advice, counsel, partnership, amazing service, and for going out of their way to ensure a successful launch on our tour. They, along with our amazing photographer, Anthony “Brad” Mitchell, are the unsung heroes that Everyday Heroes is all about.
